This film follows three girls who escape and have to cross 1500 miles of harsh Australian land to return to their family.

The granddaughter of a Japanese immigrant overcomes the painful silence in her family caused by the events following Pearl Harbor by searching out the truth. In return she finds a greater understanding of who her family was and, in the process, who she is. Following the film will be time for discussion of both the movie and the book When the Emperor was Divine.
